Barb Nechiporenko featured in August exhibit

Mandan Art will host an exhibit of the works of Bismarck artist, Barb Nechiporenko at the gallery at 411 West Main Street, Mandan, from August 1-26. Opening reception will be held Friday, August 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Barbara Nechiporenko was raised and atended school in Fessenden, ND. She graduated from University of North Dakota in 1971 and came to Bismarck to teach elementary school. In 1984, she obtained a two-year degree in Commercial Art from Bismarck State College and began a second career as a graphic artist. She was employed for a time at the Bismarck Triune and the North Dakota Living magazine, The past 14 years of her work career were spent designing publications at the N.D. State Department of Health.

Barb has studied drawing and design through night classes at BSC and has studied with several local instructors. She has taken workshops from several nationally known pastel artists, including North Dakota artist, Shiela Rieman. For the last 14 years, Vern Skaug has been her regular instructor in pastel and oil.

Barb has been an active member of the Mandan Art Association for about 12 years. She now works forom er hoe studio north of  Bismarck where she lives with her husband, Ken.

Barb paints a variety of subjects but especially enjoys landscapes featuring the North Dakota prairies. She has participated in local and regional art shows for the past 12 years and has won numerous awards.
